White supremacist attack immigrants, disturbing video, time to stand up and be counted!

Are White supremacist behind the anti-immigration movement?

This video will make you think!

The anti-immigrant sentiment in the U.S. is far out of proportion to the problem.

Many people forget, the 911 terrorists did not come over the Southern border. Their native tongue was not Spanish. They had plenty of dough to work with attending ritzy flight schools. They had nothing in common with undocumented workers!

So why has the anti-immigrant movement been so strong and effective? The video gives us some ideas!

The solution is to wake up a sleeping giant. The American people are fair when armed with the facts.

The problem is, a well heeled faction has brought us a great fiction. We must each take a stand against fiction! Pass this along, the video says it all!   Thanks to Robert Orona for sending me this powerful video!  Tim

Latinos say “Hasta la vista Arizona” - economic impact looks severe, SB 1070 killer for Republicans

Documented and
undocumented
immigrants
flee

After Colorado got nasty with undocumented immigrants, many documented immigrants refused to come to the Rocky Mountains.  That put a crunch on San Luis Valley farmers who could not find enough labor to get their crops out of the ground, a little known fact the Colorado congress does not want you to know.
Colorado decided it would not allow any public services to undocumented people which was interpreted by narrow minds to mean no auto registrations, or public health.  They even required business renewals to certify the owners were documented,  forcing business to sell out.  Some may not have noticed, but Colorado is not in an economic boom.

Arizona has taken the cake regarding anti-immigrant legislations with SB 1070.  The law requires police to detain all persons suspected of being undocumented.  While protests against the law have centered around the racial profiling aspect, the people most affected by the law are undocumented immigrants.

americans are wetbacks too

It is sad to say, anti-immigrant forces are saying “Hasta La Vista”.  In fact in the first phrase of an article in the New York Daily News author Meena Hartenstein starts her article with the words “Hasta la vista”!  Perhaps it is just a slip, but Hartenstein’s statement is at best uncomplimentary.
Fox News headlines say there is no data to show the mass exodus, as the conservative newspaper attempts to shed doubt on the effect of SB 1070.  Later in the article they admit Latino children have been pulled out of school.

When I was in Arizona for the event “Alto Arizona” the National Day of Action, in which 100,000 people marched in protest of SB 1070, the news was clear:  Yes, there is a mass fleeing of Latinos from Arizona!  Most are undocumented immigrants, but some are citizens fed up with hate filled laws.
No matter how you cut it, undocumented immigrant or Latino citizen, one thing is sure:  Arizona is going to pay a huge economic price for a law which is considered by human rights activists as discriminatory and subject to abuse.

Activist are not the only ones protesting.  Municipalities like Las Angeles, companies and private citizens are saying “Hasta la vista, Arizona!” by cancelling visits.  As early as May 4th, 2010, owner of the Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix, Ben Bethel said customers canceled 80 room reservations in just one day
Arizona Republicans, most of whom are business owners, also failed to take into account how much money undocumented immigrants contribute to the economy.  They buy tv’s and air-conditioners like others.  One hopes Republican property owners are ready for tax hikes, as the state will be short on the tax base by the end of the year.

Once again the call for comprehensive immigration reform is being heard in the U.S. Senate.  The idea is to provide a fair resolution to the immigration problem, stop ugly laws like SB 1070 and rescue foolish Republicans from themselves.  Based upon the disaster forming in Arizona, no time is like the present for this badly needed reform.

John McCain runs but can he hide? Immigration activist protest in his office because he won’t listen! Alto Arizona

Instead of talking with us, Senator John McCain

cancels his meeting!

So we take the message to him!

McCain office staff presume this guerro is in charge of the protest, a big mistake on their part!

The McCain Staffer refuses to let me get someone who is in charge to talk to him.  He insists “we” leave the office immediately.

Guess what gumbo, I am about the only gringo there, and I am the last guy one should talk to.   I had no authority!

This is the Arizona attitude.  Give orders to people who are not in charge.  Refuse to listen to people who have influence.  Take no interest in solutions.

Call your senator and ask him to support comprehensive immigration reform in 2010!  It is clear Senator John McCain has no interest in listening!

Help:  I need better camera equipment!  If you are willing to donate unwanted equipment I would put it to good use!  I need digital video and still cameras, programs and gear!  Donations of money are also accepted!

The Arizona Republicans have made a mess of immigration reform with their hateful SB 1070.  Let’s get this bill introduced into the senate so we can avoid another Arizona in the rest of the 50 states!

We believe in peaceful protests to bring about social reform.  Help us in our quest!  Call your senator and urge action on Comprehensive Immigration Reform.  Help register people to vote.  Volunteer in one of the many immigrant's rights groups.  Alto Arizona taught me the power of peaceful protest!

John McCain splats date for discussion of HB 1070, immigrants, protesters ordered from office

A meeting between the increasingly right wing John McCain and the Phoenix, Az., community that was sechduled for May 28th, 2010 was cacelled because McCain's "flight was delayed by three hours".   Some say he cancelled his own meeting because he got news the immigrant rights community was going to show up.  The top of the meeting was Arizona's racial profiling law, HB 1070.

Many of McCain's supporters were disgruntled when they found out they made a trip to a community meeting for nothing.  Many of the immigrant community were disappointed, as they are McCain constituents, as well.

Even though McCain didn't show up, the immigrants right's community was undaunted.  They protested outside the quiet Phoenix community center for over a half hour.

Later in the day, over 200 immigrants rights supporters came to McCain's office to deliver a letter asking him to support immigration reform.  Shortly after arriving, the staff asked the supporters to leave and told them if they din't leave the police would be called.  The supporters didn't leave and the police were called.  It took a long time for a response, but they finally showed up in force.

Leaders of the immigrant community met with McCain's office personnel who promised to ask John for a face to face meeting with a response back within 24 hours.  The activist are waiting to hear from McCain staff.

Sarah opposes:

Gays, Lesbians and Transgender persons and family values ( anti glbt )

Health care for the poor

The Dream Act for children of undocumented immigrants

The right to choice

Sarah Palin recently endorsed

sb 1070, the most aggressive anti immigrant law ever written!

The law will require police investigation and detention of anyone suspected of being in the country “illegally” which means without documents.

If you are a person “of color” you better carry your US Passport!

Here is an interview with an “open minded” DU student who thinks Sarah is a peach!

It unwise to be “cautiously” for a law, especially if you are affected by it.

Denver University students protest injustice and those who support injustice like Sarah Palin and the Republican party.  Palin is anti-immigrant, pro-racial profiling, anti-gay, anti-choice!

It sounds to us like Sarah Palin wants to take America away!  Thank God for fair minded Denver University students!

Arizona considers racial profiling in schools, HB 1070 requires reporting children of undocumented workers!

Senator Russell Pearce SB 1097

Drunk with the headlines, Republican Senator Russell Pearce has come up with a ‘one better’ than HB 1070 which condones racial profiling.  Now, Russell wants to go after the children of undocumented aliens.  SB 1097 would require reporting the number of undocumented children  in the school and the ‘economic impact’ they have on the system.  Failure to report could cost the school it’s funding!

RussellPearce
Senator Russell Pearce smiles as he contemplates the tears on the faces of children of undocumented workers when they are denied a grade school education

The tactic Russell Pearce proposes has been used for years by parents in divorce court.  The wife won’t let dad see the kids unless he ponies up for child support and a large hunk of the marital estate.  Dad demands custody of the children until mom gets real on the money part.  No one is looking out for the best interests of the children.  While there are a thousand versions of marital ping-pong, it is the dirtiest pool one can play in the law.

The fool Senator Pearce has merely moved marital dirty pool into the schools.  His ugly SB 1097 will intimidate undocumented families while manipulating school administrators.  Either the school goes along with denying education to the children of undocumented aliens who had no choice in coming to this country, or the state of Arizona will deny funding for the rest of the student population.

What bullies fail to see is, no one takes their side.  Senator Pearce is playing the role of a fool by getting his mug in the headlines once again.  He is putting the Republican party nation-wide at risk of another crushing defeat in November.  It is well known the hate laws being passed in Arizona are along party lines, Republicans for HB 1070 racial profiling, Democrats against HB 1070.  One can presume Republicans in other states share similar sentiments.

Of course, Teddy Tan, I mean right wing Ted Tancredo weighed in on the proposed Arizona law, insisting we need to measure the cost of educating innocent children of undocumented immigrants.  He has not mentioned how to monitor the cost of sending un-educated young adults to prison when they are forced into poverty and lives of crime.  Republicans secretly breathed a great sign of relief after Teddy Tan Tancredo left the House congressional seat for Colorado years ago.   His extreme views and insistence in robbing Republican headlines cost the party dearly and current Republicans hope to silence this fruit cake.

Fools don’t lift their heads up to see what is going on around them.  Thousands of organizations are announcing boycotts of Arizona.  Conventions are cancelling.  There is a move to cancel the 2011 All Stars game to be held in Phoenix.   While the fool Russell Pearce does not care what happens in his state, Republican senates in other states considering a copy-cat HB 1070 racial profiling law must be having second thoughts.  Pearce and his cronies are making allies for the pro-reform immigration movement more than any other single person or organization in the United State of America could.  They are making enemies for Republicans nationwide more than any candidate could and SB 1097 is just another nail in the coffin.

Now is a good time to order your free Arizona travel guide as it costs the state of Arizona money to print and send out, could affect the budget for the Arizona Tourist Board and some of us will be traveling to the State to protest ugly laws!

We must assist Arizona in defeating Republican senators and Republican governor Jan Brewer in the November elections.  While the fool Republican Senator Russell Pearce and his buddies are moving full speed ahead on SB 1097 in the Arizona Senate as reported in Zimvi.com, the Arizona House has wisely tabled the bill pending the outcome of the November elections.  The House understands the power of the Latino voting base along with those who stand up against injustice.

Protest Arizona HB 1070 Request your free Arizona vacation guide here!

 Short story:

Protest HB 1070!

Order your free Arizona vacation guide at the state of Arizona's expense!  If we order enough of these the state will not have enough guides for their busy tourism season or will have to spend big bucks printing more!

This tactic worked well against a famous right wing Republican.  We shut down his toll free donation line by jamming it with protest calls and requests for free information!

There is more than one way to boycott Arizona!  Let them pay for the boycott out of their pockets!   This guide is absolutely free!

Be sure to order the print version as the computer version will do the movement no good.

Pass this along to 10 of your friends or send it over the social net!  Let's hit 'em in the wallet!

Long story

Arizona’s law HB 1070 which advocates open profiling of any person “of color” has passed and is in full preparations for launch.  Arizona Republican Governor Jan Brewer signed the bill into law.  Sheriff “Little Joe” Arpaio is ready with his 900 soldier strong squadron to swoop down and cleanse the land of everyone who “looks illegal”.

Help us protest this law where it hurts the most, in the back sides of Republicans who supported this ugly hate law.  When we speak about Republicans’ back side we are usually talking about their wallets!

Order your free Arizona tourist guide IN PRINT FORM!  Let the state that handed us an ugly law pay for a free tourist guide, including printing and mailing!  When you get it, throw it in the trash, put next to the toilet in the bathroom for emergencies or give it to dog kennel for crate paper.

Whatever you do, order the literature and let the great state pay.

This won’t cost you a dime!  Let Arizona know we vote with our pocketbooks!

Protest HB 1070, boycott Arizona, PASS THIS ON TO TEN OF YOUR FRIENDS AND ASK THEM TO ORDER THE FREE GUIDES, TOO!

A message to my brothers in the Reform Immigration For America Struggle

El Pueblo Unido Jamas sera vencido!

The people united will never be defeated!

We must be careful that our words of unity are not misunderstood as words of exclusion.

A People United  ... What people?   United against whom?   Who can and who cannot be part of the united people? And against whom do we need to defend?

Immigration reform must be open to all people. That includes those born in the United States, and who do not speak Spanish or are not Hispanic. That includes those born in other lands and who have come here for a new life.  We must be open to all people with different religions, different sexual orientations, different education levels, different countries of national origin, different points of view.

It is natural to react against the hand of oppression. What we must remember is, oppression is fear. We can solve the fears of others with love in return.

Love your neighbor as your brother. That's easy to do if you're of the same race, but of a different opinion. It is difficult to do when we are of a different race and the same opinion.  For those of a different race and a different opinion, loving them may seem impossible.  To the extent we fail, we lose.

As a Guero activist for civil rights, I know there are Hispanics and Anglos who will never accept me. Some do not accept me because we are of a different race and a different culture, others will not accept me because I love all people of all races and cultures and they cannot. Both are wrong, I believe.

There is a simmering silent majority who is on the immigration reform side.  They are afraid, and they need our help and our understanding.  If you are Latino, grab the next Gringo you meet and hug him like he was your long lost brother. We need his vote and we need to teach him about the wonderful gifts the immigrant community has to offer him.

If you can’t speak Spanish, come join us in our marches and rallys.  The next one is May 1st, 2010.  Then grab the next immigrant you see (Arizona police can tell one when they see one) and hold him like your long lost brother.  You need his help, and you have wonderful things to offer him.  Once you give of yourself you will gain beyond your dreams.  Don’t let fear block your way!

There is this dude in the Padres y Jovenes movement in Denver, Colorado.  He treats me like I am his little brother, although I am 30 years older than him.

He invited me to be part of the community, he respects me, he introduced me to his wife and his friends and everything about him says, “Bien Venido” to the community!

I want to do the same with all of you!  Welcome to this great country!  Let’s work together, let’s grow our friendship.  Millions of us feel the same way, but so many are shy.  Trust me, for every person who is ugly, there are ten more who love you like you were their little brother!

I understand the fear in the immigrant community and it is sad that many must have this fear. I love all people, including those who can not love me back.  To me, this is what Reform Immigration For America is all about.  It is an opportunity to grow with new immigrant brothers.

One day soon, with the help of RIFA, we will win the struggle for civil and human rights. This fight is not just for immigrants. This fight is for justice and the conscience of the country. Immigration reform must be for all of us!

After we win reform, the work will have just started.  My immigrant brothers will need help.  I hope you all understand, you will always have a good friend in me!  I am sure I have one in you!
