How to talk to a conservative about immigration reform

Immigration activists have done a beautiful job mobilizing their base, primarily Latino immigrants and their supporters.  From my point of view, we have a lot of work to do in mobilizing the main-stream voter.

Conservatives take a variety of forms, from the gun advocate who wants to keep his pistols to the wealthy businessman who resents having to tote “papers” around with him which, to wealthy conservative fisherman has been their passport while trolling the coast of California.  Then there are the border security advocates who are convinced undocumented immigrants from Mexico somehow put their financial security at risk.  The problem with pro-immigration activists is we are not able to see it from the point of view of conservative Republicans who we often confuse for the average fruit cake.

When Luis Gutierrez proposed Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) he put lots of feed in the bill for the conservatives who normally would oppose the measure.  The first thing we as activists need to do is find a right winger and then corner him for a heart to heart chat.  Here is what we should say:

Border Security

1.  Section 101 The Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009 (CIR ASAP) addresses border security.  If you really want to guard the borders immigration reform does it!
2.  If our border patrol was not occupied chasing poor people through the desert they would have plenty of time and man-power to chase drug dealers and terrorists.  Thse guys would be the only ones left trying to sneak across the border.
3.  Face it, most people who want to come to the United States much prefer to walk through the turn styles at the check points than risk their lives crossing the desert.  There is always the occasional back to nature bunch who prefer the three day hike, but frankly, that is a luxury most poor people can't afford.
4.  CIR will fund a billion dollars a year for four years to beef up our nation’s seaports.  The sea ports are one of our weakest links in border security.  You can hide a lot in a shipping container!

1.  Statistics show, those who suffer abject poverty are significantly more likely to commit crimes against society.  Every one of us is part of society and we are not keep about being attacked.
2.  Those who go to college are much less likely to find themselves attacking society.
2.  The Dream Act will allow young people to get a college education.
3.  In doing their part, these young people will have to be proficient in English, have a clean criminal record and meet stringent requirements.
4.  One of those requirements includes a choice of graduating from college or serving in the nation’s military.
5.  Productive citizens pay taxes.  Let's invest our tax money in the brick and mortar of schools instead of the brick and bars of prison.

Path to citizenship

1.  Depending upon the country from which the immigrant is from, the “line” for citizenship is 14 years long!
2.  Not many people are willing to wait for an hour in line at Wall mart.  Not many immigrants are willing to wait 14 years for the American Dream!
3.  Despite claims to the contrary, not many Americans are willing to work in the fields for 10 hours a day at low wages.  In a recent call to action, the United Farm Workers offered to let any citizen or lawful permanent resident take the job of an undocumented worker picking crops in the fields.  So far there have been almost no takers.
4.  The proposed path to citizenship is six years long before waiting lines.  Applicants will have to pass a rigorous back ground check, pay a healthy fine which could add 3 billion smacks to the treasury and demonstrate proficiency in English.
5.  Applicants will be issued a driver’s license.  That will allow them to get automobile insurance.  Most of us like the idea of every driver having auto insurance just in case there is an accident!
6.  Those who do not take the government up on the offer will be subject to sever penalties.  One part of the reform law is to identify all people in the country.

Guns

What do you want to bet if they militarize the border, target shooting in the desert will be over?  I can’t think of a worse place to bring out the Glock 9 to plug your retired HP Printer for target practice than near a little hill with armed soldiers on the other side!

Conclusions

Many of us are not excited about these provisions, but it is part of the give and take for immigration reform.  Conservatives will rub their hands in glee over this part of reform.  It is exactly what they have been asking for all along!

The job of educating ignorant people does not belong to ignorant people.  That is why they are…well…ignorant.  The job of bringing the facts to the voting population is yours and mine.  It is not as fun as speaking to a base which supports the cause.  However, it is a necessary task and we must all accept the challenge.

Reasonable people understand you can’t have it both ways, ask for border security but refuse the law that will provide it; not want to be subject to the words “papers please” but refuse a law that will prevent it; help focus border security on the bad guys instead of poor people but refuse a guest worker program.

When you meet someone who won’t at least listen to the facts, it is your first clue you have bumped into a fruit cake masquerading as a conservative.  They are not true conservatives, they are just unreasonable.  Don’t waste any more time on them, they might even be dangerous!  Move on the the next cat, there are true conservatives who can think their way out of a paper bag…you just have to find them!

Immigration activists set war on SB 1070 July 28th, 2010

We need you in Phoenix on July 28th and 29th, 2010.  Arizona is in a state of siege.

The battle ground is set for July 29th, 2010 when an abusive law, S.B. 1070, goes into effect.  Members of law enforcement known for illegal police tactics brag July 29th will be their day for massive raids on the defenseless immigrant community.

mi familia vota

Meanwhile, Governor Jan Brewer and her wayward cast of Republican law-makers refuse to call a halt to the expected barrio raids and discrimination.  By now they know S.B. 1070 was a mistake, resulting in massive boycotts, racial profiling and an excuse for strong-arm police tactics which could even be violent, against those who are powerless.

Every person who stands for liberty and justice, in conscience, has a duty to be front and center.  We will wage war in a peaceful way, through demonstrations, through peaceful resistance, by bringing the message the vile words, “papers please” used by a madman in Europe, must not be spoken in the homeland.

Salvador Reza from the Puente Movement says it very well:

“We are living in historic times where we do not have the luxury to be spectators while a hurricane of hate destroys our families, our dreams, our businesses and our work.”

Protest in front of Aurora Immigration Detention Facility

While details are sketchy, organizers are asking you to think about what targets would be best for you.  Some places will be “hotter” than others.  Likely, confrontations with “Little Joe” Sheriff Arpaio and his army of 900 soldiers, for example, have the potential to be dicey.  You may even want to schedule your own protest and list it on the  Alto Arizona website.

Above all, our message must be one of peace, of passive refusal to obey lawful orders to the extent of shutting down an unconstitutional system of government.  We must pass a message to other states contemplating unjust laws, “The price for your discrimination will be higher than your satisfaction gained!”

We will stand up and be counted, we will suffer blows against our bodies without striking back if necessary, but we must remain calm in our message spoken by John Lennon many years ago, “All we are saying, is give us (the immigrant community) a chance.  All we are saying, is give peace a chance!”

Game on!

Latino workers lynched – Alto Arizona, Stop the hate!

One of the most hateful laws in history has been passed by Republican Jan Brewer and her cohorts when the Governor signed Arizona SB 1070.  On July 29th, 2010, the law goes into effect and the soldiers march.

rifa signs

This SB 1070 does two things.  First, it promotes racial profiling.  The law REQUIRES law enforcement to detain anyone they suspect of being in the state without documents.  Since most undocumented workers are Hispanic, the law will lead to profiling of those who look Hispanic.

An often over-looked aspect of the law is it’s anti-immigration implications.  Millions of people are working for immigration reform through an organization called Reform Immigration For America (RIFA).  Arizona SB 1070 is a slap in the face to every person, regardless of race or creed, who believes in human dignity.  There are simple solutions in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) bill proposed by Senator Luis Gutierrez.  There was no need to kick sand in the face of poor people by passing SB 1070.

marching for freedom

Now to the lynching.  On July 29th, 2010, the day SB 1070 goes into effect, a lot of people are coming to Phoenix to mourn and to speak.  When I was in Phoenix the tension in the air was thick!  If “Little Joe” sheriff Arpaio and his goon squad of 900 soldiers raids poor communities, as he promised to do, a lot of people are going to feel like Justice got lynched.  Won't you?

“We are a peaceful angry people.”  We use pacifist actions to bring attention to our cause, to force local governments to listen to our cries, and to bring about social change.

We are not the violent ones.  In fact, violence will set our cause back.  Those who have passed hate filled laws are strangling the human rights out of defenseless people.  The violence is to our dignity, especially of undocumented workers and those who look undocumented.

An injustice against one person is an injustice against all people.  The implementation of SB 1070, this lynching of dignity, is a disgrace for every right minded American!

We need mainstream America, those who believe when they put their hands on their hearts and recite the pledge of allegiance, when they sing the star spangled banner, they believe this is the land of the free and home brave!

Now we need the brave.  Will you come to Arizona to protest the lynching of freedom?

Arizona considers racial profiling in schools, HB 1070 requires reporting children of undocumented workers!

Senator Russell Pearce SB 1097

Drunk with the headlines, Republican Senator Russell Pearce has come up with a ‘one better’ than HB 1070 which condones racial profiling.  Now, Russell wants to go after the children of undocumented aliens.  SB 1097 would require reporting the number of undocumented children  in the school and the ‘economic impact’ they have on the system.  Failure to report could cost the school it’s funding!

RussellPearce
Senator Russell Pearce smiles as he contemplates the tears on the faces of children of undocumented workers when they are denied a grade school education

The tactic Russell Pearce proposes has been used for years by parents in divorce court.  The wife won’t let dad see the kids unless he ponies up for child support and a large hunk of the marital estate.  Dad demands custody of the children until mom gets real on the money part.  No one is looking out for the best interests of the children.  While there are a thousand versions of marital ping-pong, it is the dirtiest pool one can play in the law.

The fool Senator Pearce has merely moved marital dirty pool into the schools.  His ugly SB 1097 will intimidate undocumented families while manipulating school administrators.  Either the school goes along with denying education to the children of undocumented aliens who had no choice in coming to this country, or the state of Arizona will deny funding for the rest of the student population.

What bullies fail to see is, no one takes their side.  Senator Pearce is playing the role of a fool by getting his mug in the headlines once again.  He is putting the Republican party nation-wide at risk of another crushing defeat in November.  It is well known the hate laws being passed in Arizona are along party lines, Republicans for HB 1070 racial profiling, Democrats against HB 1070.  One can presume Republicans in other states share similar sentiments.

Of course, Teddy Tan, I mean right wing Ted Tancredo weighed in on the proposed Arizona law, insisting we need to measure the cost of educating innocent children of undocumented immigrants.  He has not mentioned how to monitor the cost of sending un-educated young adults to prison when they are forced into poverty and lives of crime.  Republicans secretly breathed a great sign of relief after Teddy Tan Tancredo left the House congressional seat for Colorado years ago.   His extreme views and insistence in robbing Republican headlines cost the party dearly and current Republicans hope to silence this fruit cake.

Fools don’t lift their heads up to see what is going on around them.  Thousands of organizations are announcing boycotts of Arizona.  Conventions are cancelling.  There is a move to cancel the 2011 All Stars game to be held in Phoenix.   While the fool Russell Pearce does not care what happens in his state, Republican senates in other states considering a copy-cat HB 1070 racial profiling law must be having second thoughts.  Pearce and his cronies are making allies for the pro-reform immigration movement more than any other single person or organization in the United State of America could.  They are making enemies for Republicans nationwide more than any candidate could and SB 1097 is just another nail in the coffin.

Now is a good time to order your free Arizona travel guide as it costs the state of Arizona money to print and send out, could affect the budget for the Arizona Tourist Board and some of us will be traveling to the State to protest ugly laws!

We must assist Arizona in defeating Republican senators and Republican governor Jan Brewer in the November elections.  While the fool Republican Senator Russell Pearce and his buddies are moving full speed ahead on SB 1097 in the Arizona Senate as reported in Zimvi.com, the Arizona House has wisely tabled the bill pending the outcome of the November elections.  The House understands the power of the Latino voting base along with those who stand up against injustice.

 Short story:

Protest HB 1070!

Order your free Arizona vacation guide at the state of Arizona's expense!  If we order enough of these the state will not have enough guides for their busy tourism season or will have to spend big bucks printing more!

This tactic worked well against a famous right wing Republican.  We shut down his toll free donation line by jamming it with protest calls and requests for free information!

There is more than one way to boycott Arizona!  Let them pay for the boycott out of their pockets!   This guide is absolutely free!

Be sure to order the print version as the computer version will do the movement no good.

Pass this along to 10 of your friends or send it over the social net!  Let's hit 'em in the wallet!

Long story

Arizona’s law HB 1070 which advocates open profiling of any person “of color” has passed and is in full preparations for launch.  Arizona Republican Governor Jan Brewer signed the bill into law.  Sheriff “Little Joe” Arpaio is ready with his 900 soldier strong squadron to swoop down and cleanse the land of everyone who “looks illegal”.

Help us protest this law where it hurts the most, in the back sides of Republicans who supported this ugly hate law.  When we speak about Republicans’ back side we are usually talking about their wallets!

Order your free Arizona tourist guide IN PRINT FORM!  Let the state that handed us an ugly law pay for a free tourist guide, including printing and mailing!  When you get it, throw it in the trash, put next to the toilet in the bathroom for emergencies or give it to dog kennel for crate paper.

Whatever you do, order the literature and let the great state pay.

This won’t cost you a dime!  Let Arizona know we vote with our pocketbooks!

Protest HB 1070, boycott Arizona, PASS THIS ON TO TEN OF YOUR FRIENDS AND ASK THEM TO ORDER THE FREE GUIDES, TOO!

National boycott planned for Arizona – speak with your dollars!

Just say NO to Arizona
Boycott HB 1070

It did not take an effort on the part of the National Council of La Raza to call for a boycott of Arizona for the first protests with the buck to start.  However, the influential organization, along with labor groups and others, has been instrumental in letting the citizens know there is a price to discrimination.

"No conferences. No travel," said Janet Murguía, president of the NCLR, the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights group. "We are looking at major events with big visibility, and we're asking all people to consider whether any purchase of goods from the state would further this unjust law."

janet
Janet Murguía, picture from Washington Post

In addition to the boycotts urged by the NCLR, there may be a national walkout throughout the United States in the planning.  We will keep you posted on news.

Not everyone in Arizona is in agreement with HB 1070 which requires law enforcement to investigate any suspected undocumented person to see if they are in the country “without papers”.  The law was vetoed when it came up for signature by the prior governor of Arizona who was a Democrat.  It took a Republican Governor, Jan Brewer, to sign the hate based legislation.

The problem with the law, amongst other issues, is it does not define what an “illegal alien” looks like.  That leaves some police departments in the un-happy position, and other police departments Like “Little Joe” Arpaio’s in the happy position, of determining for themselves what an undocumented resident looks like.  Since most undocumented workers are Latino, it mandates racial profiling and the obliteration of probable cause for Hispanics during police investigation.

Even though plenty of innocent persons will be hurt by a boycott, it sends a message to Arizona.  There is a price to hating your brother.  The National Council of La Raza NCLR is looking for large events to send the message.  According to an article in the Washington Post.

“Supporters of the NCLR have agreed to pull the Puerto Rican Day festival's regional meeting out of Phoenix, and the National Urban League struck the city from a short-list of places to host its 2012 conference.”

Murguía has requested Major League Baseball cancel the 2011 All-Star Game in Phoenix.  'She is joined by U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ), according to the Hudson Reporter.

However, every single one of us can help send the message.  Every unspent dollar counts.  No travel.  No purchasing of products made in Arizona.  No conferences.  Perhaps you can even take the scenic route if your travel plans would normally lead you through Arizona on your way to greener pastures.  Best, no financial support of any kind!

The move will likely strike terror in the hearts of Republicans who supported the hate law.  The Republican Party is the party which supports business interests over that of labor and minorities.  It is also critical we remember which party passed this ugly law in the up-coming elections!

We must also be vigilant against illegal violations of one’s civil rights.  The federal government has an information page for those who think their rights have been violated.   While Arizona sanctions State mandated civil rights violations, clear acts of hate may be prosecuted by the federal government.

Boycott Arizona, Cancel your trip, don’t support apartied, HB 1070 anti immigrant law, time for reform!

Republicans like money
We like freedom!

Down with HB 1070!

Apartied is giving white businesses a leg up over all other businesses.  It treats Anglos better than the rest.  HB 1070 has the effect of Apartied.  You don’t have to be undocumented to suffer under the blazing injustice of HB 1070!

It is time we march with our money and find a different place to put it than Arizona.  Those who passed H.B. 1070 making it illegal to be “illegal” and requiring police to investigate any person they suspect of being “illegal” must have known it was going to have a negative effect on businesses in Arizona.
They were right.

How do we vote with our money?  There is concern for the small businessman who opposed the law and who has done nothing to deserve negative financial consequences.

BOYCOTT
Unfortunately, Governor Brewer and her band of Republican law makers must have known this was going to be a consequence.  Even if we do nothing, the businesses that depend upon Hispanic support, like restaurants and tiendas, will be affected by thousands of refugees leaving the state.  It is sad to say, their losses are going to come anyway.  A boycott will not affect them much.

laughlin hotel
Lauglin, Nevada on Arizona border

In short, if you have a trip planned for Arizona, find somewhere else to go.  Nevada has nice weather and lots to do.  Laughlin, Nevada, is a fun place on the river, and there are many other places that would make a great base for an inexpensive vacation.

If you have a conference in Arizona, try to find another place for your conference.  If you must be in Arizona, frequent the Latino business and avoid stores like Wall mart, Sam’s Club, night clubs, clothing boutiques, chain restaurants and tourist attractions.  Why put money into the coffers of the government which has robbed so much from so many?

The mayor of Phoenix, Arizona, begs us not to boycott his city.  Where was he when this ugly law was passed?  If he is serious about no boycott then why doesn’t his city council pass a law which prohibits the police from enforcing unjust laws?  I have a problem with those who don’t want to pay consequences for ugly laws but are not doing anything to get the unjust legislation undone.

rifa marches

Your buck goes a long ways in Arizona.  It is time people of that state learn what contribution undocumented workers make to businesses.  Arizona has been hostile to undocumented workers for years.  It is past time for them to learn how their ugly laws affect us all!

DYE YOUR MONEY
If you must spend your money in Arizona, then wash it.  Put is through a red or green dye process.  Every time that dollar is spent people will know it came from the hands of an undocumented person or someone who supports them. You can also run change through a thin mixture of paint.  Why not dump all of your change through a green paint wash?  Just an idea, be sure to check with your attorney before taking this step!

Border rancher Robert Krentz shot, dies, Tancredo blames illegal immigrant

Panic on the Arizona border

"It was an illegal immigrant they say!"

“Tin marin de dos pingué de cucara macara títere

fue”

What does that mean?

The translation is not literal, but the counting rhyme works the same.  How about:

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.

In my day they used a racial term in the place of tiger.

rob and susan krentz
Robert and Susan Krentz, friends to the Mexican people
Fortunately, we don’t use those kinds of words any more.  But they might as well use them in Arizona.  This time just stick in the words “illegal alien”.  The Rhyme would sound like this:

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch an illegal alien by the toe.
If he hollers let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.

Why do I say that?  Because a conservative media wants to hang an ‘illegal alien’ for murder of wealthy rancher Robert Krentz even before law enforcement has had a chance to investigate.  The man who had compasion for everyone one was shot while mending fences on his 35,000 acre ranch.  They still have lynch mobs in Arizona.
According to Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever, Krentz, whose property

robert krentz
Robert Krentz

borders Mexico came across what he believed to be an illegal alien while on his ATV.  Reports suggest, without provocation, the 'illegal alien' pulled out his trusty rifle and shot the rancher.  Then he put on his shoes and hoofed it 20 miles back to Mexico.  Meanwhile, rancher Krentz was able to flee at a high speed on his ATV.  In one version of the story, Krentz muttered into his radio the words 'illegal alien' as he was racing from the vicinity.  In other reports, the rancher mentioned the words earlier in the day, and the press ran with the 'it was probably an illegal alien' story before the sun could set.

The story sounds suspicious from the start:
  • The average illegal alien does not carry fire arms.  Guns are hard to get in Mexico.  If you get caught with one you better have a lot of dough to pay off the cat who caught you.  Having a red hot six shooter in your hand can cost you a long time in a Mexican pokey. If you have a lot of dough why come to the US via the hardest of routes?
  • The guys who carry guns are the Mexican police, drug dealers, soldiers, ranchers and minutemen.  Well maybe not the minutemen anymore.  Supposedly, most of them cut and ran when they had to defend against drug gangs instead of un-armed poor people.
  • Few 'illegal aliens' travel alone.  Most hire a coyote to get them across the border.  There is a certain safety in numbers, as well.
What bothers me is the media hype with an ugly conclusion before an investigation can be made:  It was an illegal alien.

It is the vocabulary that made the ugly version of "eenie meenie minie moe" evil.  It is the vocabulary that makes the 'illegal alien' version evil.  That is because we fail to distinguish between a guy who crosses the border to find work and a guy who crosses the border to sell drugs or traffic in human beings.

The drug dealer does not fit the traditional concept of an 'illegal alien', although he may be one.  Most drug dealers are not here to work, they are here to make a killing bringing junk across the border.  The allure of fast money will call to them.  They plan to go home and darn quick, partly to make more money and partly to keep from getting caught.  Yet we group him along side the poorest of poor and claim both are evil demons because the poor, too, have crossed the border illegally.  Trust me, there are big differences between drug dealers and the average joe, or jose, trying to feed his family.

“The Republican Party breathed a deep sigh of relief when the citizens of Colorado finally threw Tommy out of his Republican congressional seat”

In the old days in the deep South they used to blame everything on African Americans, but they didn’t use suave terms like African American.  The reality is, a lot of white guys got away with murder while an African American took robert krentzii the fall.

After Mr. Krentz was found dead, law enforcement got the dogs out.  Tracks led them to Mexico.  What we don’t know is if they found tracks coming from Mexico to the ranch.  The sheriff’s department is not saying.

There were apparently no witness to the shooting yet everybody, including Tom Tancredo, yeah, Tommy’s in on it now, thinks the saying should be:

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch an illegal alien by the toe

You should be relieved to know, Tommy is singing his hate songs as usual.  In fact, he reportedly was on the Arizona-Mexico border stirring up trouble again, likely in support of the discriminatory legislation in front of the tommy tancredo Arizona congress which makes it illegal to be an illegal alien.

Tom Tancredo

The Republican Party breathed a deep sigh of relief when the citizens of Colorado finally threw Tommy out of his Republican congressional seat.  He was grabbing headlines for his radical anti-Mexican immigrant statements.  For example, he was gleefully laughing on the radio after Colorado implemented a law that put prison inmates to work in the fields.  He thought it was pretty cool when an undocumented worker ended up in prison only to be put to work at 60 cents an hour for the state of Colorado.

Lots of others are joining the lynch mob.  A neighbor, Wendy Glenn, said she was going to start carrying a gun.  Somehow I think most of the ranchers carry guns even when they are not on the border.  But it sounds good, anyway, Wendy.

The republican governor, Jan Brewer reportedly is in favor of the bill that makes it illegal to be illegal.  She will likely sign it into law, despite pleas from Latino groups.  The legislation makes it against state law to be in Arizona and undocumented.  It will prevent those who are not fully documented from seeking help from the police when they are victims of crime including rape and robbery.  You might want to contact the governor if you oppose such thinking.  The ink is about to be very wet.

“with a heck of a lot fewer poor people crossing the desert, law enforcement can concentrate on a serious drug smuggling problem”

If you think I am jumping around a bit here you are right.  That is because there is a lot of discrimination going on in Arizona, and a lot of other places, and it all fits together like a puzzle.  One of the pieces of the puzzle is how we discriminate.  This is not the race based discrimination we look for in the deep South.  This is discrimination based upon national origin.  All Mexican nationals, whoops, I mean 'illegal aliens' are rotten apples.  That is just not so.

The solution to the 'illegal immigrant' problem is make immigration legal.  Treat people fairly.  Don't give them reason to fear local law enforcement.  Give them a means to earn a decent living.  Don't penalize generations of immigrants who came here when the border was intentionally porous.  Help children realize their dream of a path to a better life through education.  Help businessmen seeking labor from an increasingly smaller pool of baby boomers find that labor.

The solution to drug dealers and coyotes is to clear the smuggling routes of poor people.  That way we can identify the real bad guys more easily.  We can concentrate our enforcement efforts on the corrosive leaches of society.  We can protect against the terrorist who one day will surely make an attempt at a desert crossing instead of hopping an airliner.

The conservative fruit cakes won't tell you, but immigration reform involves a three prong solution:
  • Strengthen the border so we can defend against real criminals;
  • Give those here a path to legalization, identify them through driver's licenses which also allows them to get automobile insurance;
  • Provide for future labor needs of the country with a labor system that works.
The Tancredo crowd would rather give up national security to deny 'illegal aliens' the chance to migrate.  What is the logic in that?

Eeeny meenie miney moe,
catch Tom Tancredo by the toe...

Then just love him to death.  There is room for all of us in this great country!

By the way, in traditional 'Tancredo all-illegal-immigrants-are-bad-people-thinking', Governor Brewer wants to militarize the border.  The military isn’t going to want other gun toters there, so the NRA might as well throw in the towel if that comes to pass.  The good governor might want to read the constitution before she calls for a militarization.  Our forefathers were against using our military in the capacity of policemen unless marshal law was declared.  More, we likely have adequate forces to corral the drug dealers if we can get the poor people to use the bridges.  Wonder how that could come to pass.

My condolences to the Robert Krentz family and Susan Krentz.  Robert Krentz was one heck of a nice guy.  Whoever did this should pay.  My vote is, they should pay with their life.  Preferably, the method of execution would not be by a lynch mob.  Since not many people will volunteer for the death penalty however it is invoked, why don't we play, eenie meenie miney moe...
