Denver ICE, a Promise for you

Tonight we had the monthly vigil in front of Denver ICE detention.  It was great to see my old friends again and meet new ones.  However, it is always a difficult occasion because I understand the horror of an unjust system being lived by “detainees” only a few yards from where we stand.

hearing the stories

The other people who meet must understand it too.  Some nights are more somber than others.  Tonight was very somber.

We are not just in a fight for human rights, but also in a war for human dignity.  There is a price defenders of liberty pay.  The attrition in our numbers, the cost of being in continued pain, the worry, the lack of progress, I could see it tonight in the faces.

While we may grow weary from the non-stop assault on our brothers and sisters, we will always stand up for justice and freedom!  Our resolve will never be broken!  Together we find solidarity, we find solace, we find love.  One day, we know, our efforts will help others live the freedom for which this nation of immigrants was based.

Spending three weeks with Promise Arizona has been a big help to me.  I found great strength with the souls who kept vigil at the Arizona state capitol.  They didn’t have to tell me their stories in order for me to understand their losses, although many did.  Canvassing barrios where every third house was vacant told the story by itself!

Yet, there is such strength!  There is always a cheerful face!  There is talk of solutions by registering people to vote!  We no longer must duck while the bombs continue to burst over our heads for we now have a solution that will work!  We now understand the Promise of freedom may take a long time.  Not important.  We will not be swayed.

an injury to one is an injury to all

Hang in there, my brothers and sisters from Denver, Colorado.  In solidarity we cannot be defeated!  The ugly war being waged for the hearts and minds of fellow Americans is just getting started.  Soon enough, others will be singing I want a million friends! as they cast their eyes on the Southern horizon.

educators support immigrant students

Even if we could pass immigration reform today, the country is so divided, it is going to take a long time to heal!  With your leadership we are on the right path.  One day, soon enough, this contract jail called GEO will be a vacant building in a barrio full of thriving people!

  1. In the last four months Jan Brewer has been caught lying, three times and counting.

The comments made on June 16, 2010, and June 27, 2010, clearly indicates that the Brewer says that immigrants are beheading people in the United States desert. She first ran away from the question and the press when confronted with the question. She finally when to FOX/ FAKE News to recant her lie.

When Brewer was confronted with the fact the two of her top Advisors (Paul Senseman, Chuck Coughlin) are lobbyist for “Private Prisons” giant CCA she first ran away from the question and the press.

In an attempt to gain sympathy, she first said her father had died in Germany fighting the Nazi in World War II (which ended 1945) but of course we find out the truth that her father was never in Germany and died in California in 1955. Do you see a trend here?

Brewer signed into law SB 1070 Bill (Did she even read it?), lied about the crime rates in AZ (even Janet Napolitano knows that all crimes rates went down), and now we find out that she is in the pockets of PRIVATE PRISONS who stand to benefit with the increase Federal jailing, and thus they will pay her back, I wonder if it has to do anything about the fact that her son was transferred to a brand new prison, he was convicted for rape and sexual assault, I guess the fruit does not fall far the tree.

    “Private Prisons Lie”

    “AZ Crime Rates”

    “Father Lie”
